NuShield DayVue™ antireflective screen protector helps Mercedes owners fight glare after losing the protective coating on their Command Center displays

Recently, NuShield was contacted by a frantic owner of a Mercedes Benz SL550 after his Command Center display screen (Navigation, Radio, CD, IPod, telephone, etc) was severely scratched and damaged by a carwash attendant who rubbed the screen to clean the fingerprints during a routine visit.

The owner was stunned at the damage, but even more when he went to back to his Mercedes Benz dealer. He was told not only that Mercedes was aware of the problem, but that this was not the first occurrence that the dealer had heard about. Furthermore, what was really disappointing was that they told the customer that there was no fix or solution to the rubbed off coating problem short of replacing the entire command center at a cost of approximately $9,000, which the owner would have to pay for because the warranty did not cover this issue! The service manager was apologetic and told the customer that he has complained a number of times to Mercedes Benz but the issue seemed to fall on deaf ears.

Luckily, the car owner heard about the NuShield DayVue film and contacted the company to find out if it would help solve his situation. “I was a bit hesitant, but faced with a $9000 repair or insurance claim, I figured I had little to lose, and doing nothing was not an option as the damage looked so bad, especially in sunlight, on such a beautiful car,” according to the car owner.

Because of the poor and now spotty coating on the screen, he first removed the remaining factory anti-glare coating. This was easily done with a cotton cloth, a few cotton swabs and window cleaning fluid. With a bit of mild pressure and about 15 minutes of careful work, he had the old coating removed. He used the cotton swabs to remove the coating from the edges of the screen and from the corners. It is important to be patient and spend the necessary time on the edges and corners because it will ultimately result in a “like-new” result.

Once the coating was removed, he simply followed the instructions provided with the DayVue product. He removed the adhesive cover on the DayVue film and slowly worked the film into place trying to remove as many air bubbles as possible. Although he was not able to get out all the bubbles during installation, he found that they were gone by the end of the next day.

“I was a bit skeptical that this little piece of plastic was going to work, but I am pleased to report that I have had some exceptional results with the NuShield DayVue product on my 2009 Mercedes Benz SL550. I had to go through a few extra steps but the results are remarkable. I simply cannot believe how good the screen now looks in all conditions. At night, during the day with the convertible top up or with the top down and in direct sunlight; it is fantastic!”

“You have a truly great product and I will spread the word. The automobile manufacturers should use it from the factory. You saved me nearly $9000 dollars and I’m going to make sure my Mercedes Benz dealer and my service advisor know about this product. Thanks for all your help; you’re reliable, responsive, reassuring, and empathetic. Perfect customer service and a great product! Let me know if you need investors!”
